Yoga Influences

After completing my 200 Hour Fierce Grace Yoga Teacher Training in 2016 under Michele Pernetta, I dove right in and have been teaching ever since. I'm trained to teach both hot and non-hot classes.

I discovered yoga when I was 18 years old while training with a dance company, using it as an alternative training technique. I didn't start practicing regularly for another 5 yearst took almost another decade before I recognized it as one of my true passions and now travel the world sharing the magic of this practice. My yoga classes are light hearted and playful, with an emphasis on mindfulness. Self awareness and alignment are important factors, as well as hands on and/or verbal adjustments and suggestions. I offer the occasional demonstration and explain each pose from the beginning to advanced stage, with variations and modifications for different body types and fitness levels. Yoga for me is about accessibility, growth and acceptance, not about the shapes you can contort yourself into, and I try to impart that knowledge in my classes.

I'm a 200 RYT, and completed my training in London with Michele Pernetta. My yoga practice started with slower, deeper (and much hotter!) Bikram style, but as I began practicing vinyasa, hatha and Ashtanga, I started to add other influences and styles to my teaching. I teach a mix of the Fierce Grace system along with Ashtanga, vinyasa and hatha in my classes.

Fierce Grace, london uk, 2016-2017

FIERCE, adjective, i) a heartfelt powerful intensity, ii) forceful, resolute action
GRACE, noun, i) simple elegance or refinement of movement, ii) Inspiration from a higher power
FIERCE GRACE, yoga system, the integration of male and female forces giving rise to vibrant health, emotional balance, and mental clarity.

Fierce Grace is a new yoga system. They led the UK in the Hot Yoga revolution by bringing Bikram Yoga to London (and Europe) in 1994. Now they've brought practitioners the chance to achieve the ultimate blend of strength and flexibility for both body and mind.

The Fierce Grace® system draws on classical yoga systems, such as Ashtanga, Bikram, Power and Classical hatha sequences, but with the sequencing and modifications based on the needs of students who have practiced with Michele and gave her feedback over the last 20 years. It is founded on the knowledge of her teachers Bikram Choudhury, as well as Larry Schultz, inspiration from Erich Schiffman, Brian Kest and Steve Walther and countless hours of personal practice and research.

Fierce Grace is a unique series of 9 different classes based on the same core poses and principles, each with a different emphasis, duration and intensity.  From the yoga shy or the injured to advanced yogis, the 9 classes – Fierce Grace, Fierce Grace 2, Classic, WILD, Core, Fierce (aka The Beast), FLY, S.O.B. (Stiff, Old or Broken) and The Fix are designed to be accessible and effective for everyone. The variety of classes gives practitioners different options to suit their experience, schedule and mood whilst still working together as a whole. Show up to any class and you will still get the core poses and core hot yoga experience our studios built their reputation on.

Ethos, london uk, 2016-2017

Tired of the divide between the yoga, fitness and science worlds, we created a space that brings them together for optimal MIND/BODY training. We believe there are people like us who love yoga and sports and no longer want to think of them as separate activities.

ETHOS husband and wife co-founders feel passionate about creating a sacred space without pretence for people to explore their own authenticity through movement of all shades for people of all ages and levels. Both are Cambridge graduates (PhD in Biotechnology/Neuroscience and MPhil in Indian Philosophy/Sanskrit) who have spent more than 30 years in professional sports, dance, science and academia and remain deeply involved with ETHOS.

For them it is essential to teach and practice daily with their students. It is why we are committed to being an independent studio and not a corporate. It’s not about the bottom-line, but about changing people’s lives up close and personal. This is how we maintain a fresh and fluid approach that’s ever evolving so our members never plateau.
